Teen Volunteer Coordinator Application   

Responsible to: Program Director, Caretakers  

Note: Must be 18 years or older to apply for this position and must be able to serve at camp from June 12-July 1, 2012 

Summary

Drift Creek Camp’s Teen Volunteer Coordinator provides leadership to the Teen Volunteer Program.  This program forms a foundational experience for service in a camp setting that helps equip youth with an attitude of cooperative team work, sacrifice, spiritual growth, work ethic, and social experience for future ministry opportunities.  

Responsibilities

  • Put into action the purposes and objectives of the Staff Manual
  • Share in the responsibility of making camp a great experience for all campers
  • Contribute to a spirit of unity, teamwork, and loyalty among staff
  • Greet campers and parents on registration day.  Assist with check-in.
  • Create a schedule of duties and ensure teen volunteers perform assigned duties (dishes, cleaning, snack preparation, supervising cabin clean-up, childcare, etc.)
  • Maintain an attitude of flexibility and availability
  • Attend fireside, meals, and help with camp activities as needed
  • Assist with or lead a daily discipleship-oriented Bible study time
  • Maintain a Christ-like attitude in words, dress, and actions 
  • Ensure teen volunteers are awake at the appropriate time to begin morning duties and in assigned rooms, prepared for rest at the designated lights-out time.

  • Faith in Jesus Christ
  • Experience in providing leadership in a team context
  • Ability to delegate tasks
  • Ability to demonstrate and teach how tasks are to be completed
  • Ability to work cooperatively as a team member
  • Good listening and communication skills
  • Flexibility
  • A genuine interest in working with and caring for youth in a camp setting
