A Weekend With Russell Adrian: Music Retreat for Adults
January 11 - 13

If you want a chance to sing but can't make it to the whole event then join us at Salem Mennonite at 4pm on Sunday for a concert/community hymn sing.  You are also invited to stay for a potluck afterwards.

Russell Adrian is the Choir Director at Western Mennonite School, and has a passion for facilitating the coming together of people to worship and fellowship through music.  This weekend retreat is an opportunity for the Mennonite community to come together in the unique setting of Drift Creek Camp for an extended time of singing, worship, and fellowship.  Music is a powerful force for community building and worship, and our voices are the ultimate instrument.  Join us as we lift our voices together. Some of the highlights of the weekend are:

  • Hymn Singing
  • Rehearsal
  • Open mic
  • Sunday Afternoon Performance
  • Fellowship
  • Good Food

The culmination of the weekend will be a Sunday afternoon concert and community hymn sing.  You will be the concert choir, and part of the weekend agenda will involve rehearsal for the concert.  There will also be an opportunity for singing in the more traditional hymn sing format, and Saturday night we will have a coffee shop and open mic.  This is an opportunity to perform solo or in small groups with instruments.  To register download the registration form below and send it in or click on the link for online registration.

A personal invitation from the director...
I would like to invite you to Drift Creek Camp on Jan 11-13 for a weekend of fellowship and music. Many of you may be wondering how you might fit in to this weekend, so let me give you more details and entice you to come. The activities at Drift Creek are open to anyone high school age or older who enjoys music. There will be hymn singing, music rehearsal, an open mic on Sat night, and free time to enjoy your surroundings.

The weekend is designed to allow you to do as much participating or appreciating as you would like. If you would like to come just to listen, or if you would like to come just to sing hymns and appreciate the rest, that is openly encouraged. Congruently, if you would like to bring music for small groups or solo performance (instruments are welcomed for the open mic) to work on during free time- you may do so to prepare for the open mic in the evening.

On Sunday we will travel back to the valley to give a concert of our hard work from camp. The concert will be at 4:00 pm (note time change) at Salem Mennonite Church and will be an open invitation to the valley for a hymn sing and  presentation of the choir pieces and any outstanding open mic groups.

In my short time in Oregon I have experienced such a great depth of music  talent and appreciation in our community. Please come and make this a great event for everyone.  What better place than Drift Creek Camp?

Sincerely,
Russell Adrian
Music Director
