Substitute Hosting

There are many opportunities for volunteering your time, service or professional skills to Drift Creek Camp. One great way to experience the ins and outs of life at camp is to donate a weekend as a substitute host. We feel strongly that our staff needs to have opportunities to become rejuvenated and renewed physically and spiritually. In order to provide those breaks, we need help from camp supporters to fill in while caretakers are away. Responsibilities include hosting guests, greeting visitors and making them feel welcomed, operating the generator, starting morning fires in the lodge, washing dishes and assisting visitors with questions they might have.  It is a great opportunity to demonstrate hospitality and simultaneously enjoy camp.  If you are interested in serving in this manner, please contact Brenda Kauffman at 541-992-2556 or by email at .

A Substitute Host Training Session will be offered during the 2008 Drift Creek Work Weekend.  If you plan to attend, please contact Brenda Kauffman as noted above.  However, if other days work better, we are happy to accommodate your schedule. Perhaps it might work best to simply come up a day or two prior to the dates you plan to fill-in and train the same weekend you substitute.  Instructions for the generator and other responsibilities are clearly written to walk guest hosts through the process.

We can make arrangements that suit your schedule and we appreciate your willingness to contribute in this manner. Please consider a weekend away for you, that also gives our staff a weekend away as well.
